Apple Pay To Be A Feature of iOS 8 1

September saw the arrival of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as the new iOS 8 software from Apple. At the iPhone 6 event we caugh a glimpse of the new integrated contactless payment system which has been called Apple Pay. We knew we wouldnt have this feature in iOS 8 when it was released but according to a new report, Apple Pay is to roll out with iOS 8.1.

According to those at Bank Innovation, iOS 8.1 is to be made available to the public on the 20th of October and as well as getting a number of enhancements, it will also be focused on getting Apple Pay up and running. Both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus have been kitted out with NFC radios especially for this feature, and with Apple Watch also set to integrate with the system when it comes on stream next year, it is critical that Apple introduce Apple Pay with as few issues as possible.

As we discovered earlier this week, Apple is switching up its iOS release schedule this time and it now looks like iOS 8.1 is going to be arriving just five weeks after the initial roll out. We have also heard that iOS 8.2 and iOS 8.3 are also in being worked at as we speak. We know that the 20th of October is also when Apple will be holding their second major event and this time they will be showcasing the new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. Both of these are going to benefit from Apples A8 processor as well as Touch ID, and we might also see a gold configuration in the offering. The showcase for iPads always seem to be in October but we could see a lot more being put on the agenda this year. OS X Yosemite just hit Golden Master, and should be coming out around that time too and with the notion of a 5K Retina iMac and new Mac mini also doing the rounds, it looks like October could be a very busy month where Apple is concerned.

Have you updated to the latest iOS 8? Are you looking forward to the introduction of Apple Pay? Be sure to let us know what your thoughts are in the comments below.
